Personal Finance Lessons Learned from Entertainment Industry

There is no business like show business, right? There is not a single person in the world who doesn’t get at least a little intrigued with the dazzling stars of the La La Land. However, even with millions on their bank accounts, celebrities, just like all of us, experience financial troubles. Considering we follow them so passionately, one has to wonder whether we can learn from them when it comes to personal finances.

To help us explore this topic, we reached out to Anna Rosak, a digital specialist from Poland, covering topics of gaming and gambling entertainment, including kasyno online na pieniądze (or real money casinos, if you prefer it in English). Anna Rosak, just like most of us, indulges in the celebrity culture, but she also thinks there are some financial lessons to be learned: “On one hand, you have celebrities who live above their means, and on the other, celebs who really don’t care about promoting a certain lifestyle. For instance, Keanu Reeves is an A-lister, who lives like most of us. No yachts, no diamond rings, or golden spoons.”. Considering she knows this topic so well, we asked her to share some examples from which we can all learn about personal finance.

Kris Jenner and Family Business

We all know everything about Kardashians, even if we don’t want to. This family has been in the center of the celebrity world for longer than a decade, and love it or hate it, you have to admit how Kris Jenner, the “momager” of the family, knows how to get things done.

“Talk all you want about her, but the entire clan would be long gone if it wasn’t for her. This is a woman that runs the family business and expects everyone to contribute. That is one important lesson to learn. Whether you are a stay-at-home mom or a top manager, you have to know there is no such thing as free lunch”, says Anna.

In her opinion, in the case of family businesses, everyone has to pitch in with their time, knowledge, skills, and do their part. While she understands it can be difficult, it is also the only way to stay afloat.

Michael Jordan and Dangers of Lifestyles

We were surprised Anna mentioned this example, as she runs a site dedicated to online gambling. Still, she is determined to endorse responsible gaming, and that is why she mentions Jordan, who is famous for his gambling problems.

“It is not just about gambling. This guy was seduced by gaming, but you might try to chase some other type of lifestyle you can’t afford”, Anna warns. If you can’t afford to pay for something up front, then you are living beyond your means. Be aware of such an approach towards spending your money.

One of the most notorious examples is influencers, who are, in our expert’s opinion, nothing more but propaganda. “They will invite you to buy, book, and eat whatever they are eating, with zero personal liability involved. Before you bite into another unicorn sandwich or whatnot, make sure you can afford it. Chasing certain lifestyles, just for the sake of proving to everyone else you can stay on-trend, is incredibly dangerous”, our expert is convinced.

Taylor Swift and Budgeting

“I’m a Swiftie, so this one is a bit biased”, laughs Anna Rosak and then continues in a more serious tone, “Taylor Swift knows how to do her finances. Swift has properties worth more than $81 million all across the US, but at the same time, she has the same conference table ever since she was 17!”

Anna understands how having so many mansions is nothing unusual with the budget Swift has at her disposal, yet it is the table she is fascinated with. Alexandra noticed how Swift is incredibly careful with what she spends her money on and doesn’t replace things that work perfectly fine.

“In the everlasting chase of newer and better, we have to put responsible personal finances at the first place. Do you really need 17 pairs of heels? Or 40 different sneakers? Unless you are a passionate collector and see them as an investment, you better focus on more lasting things in life – pension fund, real estate, insurance, or even a table that will last for decades”, suggests Annaj.

Melissa McCarthy and Power of Negotiation

Succeeding in Hollywood is not easy, and when you don’t fit the tall and blonde type, even more so. Despite all the obstacles, the comedian Melissa McCarthy managed to become an A-lister thanks to negotiating. That’s a perfect representation of the phrase “It never hurts to ask”. Well, in Melissa’s case, it certainly did not hurt!

“Sometimes, all you have to do is ask. Ask your boss to get that raise before accepting additional workload. Ask your teleoperator for a better deal, or your favorite store for a loyalty discount. The worst thing that can happen is to get a “no”. In that case, you have to rethink what you are doing and make some decisions. It doesn’t have to be anything radical, but it may also teach you how to say “no”’, concludes our expert.
