The average Brit experiences true excitement 104 times per year – with the biggest buzz at 1:28pm on the fourth Friday in December, a study has found.

A poll of 2,000 Brits found that the typical adult spends more than 12 days a month simply going through the motions thanks to work, their commute and keeping up with life admin.

And this leaves more than two thirds of the population believing their lives are lacking in excitement.

In fact, three in 10 admit they only feel truly alive when the weekend hits, merely ‘existing’ for the other five days of the week.

A spokesman for online casino Casumo.com, which commissioned the research to promote their upcoming World of Play event, said:

“That feeling of excitement in your stomach is one of the greatest feelings in the world.

“But many Brits don’t get to feel it nearly often enough, according to our research – and some of the things we’ve found that excite us are really not that exciting.

“At Casumo, we are always trying to make the world a more exciting place, filling it with sounds, colours and games to turn the mundane into the magical.”

A colossal three quarters of Brits believe that their life is passing them by, and this feeling is most likely to grab you at the age of 38, according to the research by OnePoll.

The same amount wish their lives were more exciting, although that does leave a quarter of the population who believe their life is as exciting as it can be.

Fifty-two per cent of the population also get to Sunday night and feel as if they’ve wasted their weekends by not doing anything exciting.

And on average, we have these empty weekends twice a month – fully half of our free days.

Four in 10 respondents have taken action to try and spice up their lives, with one saying they’d booked themselves a skydive to get their adrenaline pumping.

Another quit the drudgery of their 9-5 office job for a new role travelling the country in a circus.

And one respondent sold everything they owned and shipped off to Australia, where they lived a life of luxury for two years.

Three in 10 respondents blame their job for keeping their lives from being exciting as it could be, although 47 per cent say they just don’t have the cash for an exciting life.

And almost one in five think the drizzly British weather is the thing that truly stops their lives from being exciting.

Casumo.com’s spokesman said: “One in ten of our respondents said that they couldn’t remember anything exciting ever happening to them, which is no good.

“Although we were pleased to see that a fifth could remember something fun or exciting happening to them within the last week.

“Casumo have created A World of Play which really highlights how exciting life can be if you take a few chances and try something unexpected.

“The World of Play event takes place in Shoreditch, East London on Thursday August 24th and features music, games and prizes to be won for those who are looking to add a bit of excitement to their

lives.”
