What is UI/UX design?
While User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design are different disciplines, they are often used interchangeably. However, the objective of both UI and UX design is to construct a product that is not only appealing but also simple to operate.
UI encompasses the visual aspect of the device or product used by an end-user. It involves the use of graphics, typography, colour schemes, transitions, interface animations, etc. to ensure fresh and visually stimulating aesthetics of the product, website, app, or video game. In addition, UI design also deals with how the user navigates the product or website. Navigation can be of the following types:
- Gesture-Based Interface
- Graphical User Interface
- Voice-Controlled Interface
- Software Knowledge along with competencies in varied programming languages
- Creativity to visualize concepts that are efficient, visually stimulating as well as in accordance with client’s requirements
- Must develop an eye for detailing so that the product is not only immaculate, but the user experience is also amazing.
- Time management & organizational skills to handle multiple projects and that to adhere to deadlines.
- Good communication & interpersonal skills to understand, convey as well as sell the concepts to the client. In addition, he has to collaborate with various teams and other stakeholders.
- Problem-solving approach
- The certification offered by the college must be recognised at both domestic and international levels.
- Students must gain competencies in new technologies like interactive screens and I.O.Ts besides knowledge of visual design, systems thinking, human behavior, programming while developing in-depth understanding towards creating wireframes on Invision, emerging technology, and new media, high fidelity on XD, documentation on Figma and user testing, etc.
- The college must ensure exposure to students through participation in real-world projects, competitions, and internships so as to facilitate student portfolios.
- Regular interface with industry experts and stalwarts to assist students in understanding varied aspects of client handling, business, as well as real-life case-studies, etc.
- The college must assist in developing relevant supplementary skills.
