Workscan partners with City Harvest to provide 1,230 meals to people in need this Christmas
Industrial placement portal teams up with London charity for the ‘Rescue Someone’s Christmas’ campaign
The new partnership will result in 1,230 dishes given to those in need this December as part of the charity’s upcoming “Rescue Someone’s Christmas” campaign.
Utilising City Harvest’s sustainable distribution network – which operates across 350 charities, food banks, schools and community groups in London – Workscan will donate 450 chicken curry and rice meals, 360 cottage pies, 240 macaroni and cheese plates, and 180 vegetable lasagnas.
All food will go to those who are sleeping rough or do not have access to supplies during the holidays.
Workscan’s smart platform – which uses applicants’ skills, grades and hobbies to provide better-matched employment opportunities – is set for launch in early 2022, and the team has expressed its delight in supporting such an important London organisation.
Speaking on the partnership, Workscan CEO and Founder Ioannis Antypas stated: “The last few years have been incredibly challenging for all of us, but none more so than for those individuals who are most in need.
“That is why we want to give back to our local community this Christmas, and we are honoured to be working with such a respected charity as City Harvest.”
Dan McAlpine, Head of Food at City Harvest, added: “City Harvest and Workscan have developed a fantastic partnership that will allow hundreds of Londoners access to hearty warm food this Christmas period.
“The generosity of Workscan’s 1,230 meal donation, coupled with City Harvest’s rapid response outreach to 350+ charities, is how ‘City Harvest Rescues Christmas’ for so many people facing food poverty after an extremely hard year.”
The initiative represents part of Workscan’s mission to build a better tomorrow – with the upcoming platform designed to create incredible opportunities for students.
All employers on the platform are required to pass a verification process, whilst educational bodies can create courses and assign them to students directly within the portal. Users can also host online and offline webinars and events, using Workscan as a communication tool.
