LOVE, ENJOYMENT AND DRESSING UP TOP THE CHRISTMAS WISH LIST ACCORDING TO NEW RESEARCH

LOVE, ENJOYMENT AND DRESSING UP TOP THE CHRISTMAS WISH LIST ACCORDING TO NEW RESEARCH

  • One in two Brits think Christmas is the most magical time for marriage proposals.
  • Six in ten will be with family and friends and almost half plan to dress up for the big day
  • Almost half want to dress up
  • Three quarters think a man getting down on one knee is now outdated and popping the question is an option irrespective of gender

Despite the threat of a new Christmas lockdown Brits say they are determined to celebrate the festival season with family and friends in style according to new research released today (14 December 2021) by menswear specialist Moss Bros.

Six in ten (61%) are planning to spend more time with close family and friends, one in three (34%) will make an effort to get together with those they haven’t see for a while and a quarter (26%) will visit restaurants and bars.

And almost half (47%) say they take the opportunity to ‘put on their glad rags’ and dress up after a previous year of dressing down.

Romantics who have been putting off deciding about their future admit Christmas is the time to pop the question with one in two (47%) saying it’s the right time of year to spring a surprise proposal and flash the engagement ring.

And it could be the woman making the gesture with close on three quarters (69%) saying attitudes have changed and there is no need to wait for a Leap Year.

Andrew Roscoe, head of brand and creative, Moss Bro said: “The pandemic has made us even more grateful for the coming festive season and the chance to spend time with loved ones. This year it appears we are more determined than ever to seize the moment and create life-long memories.

“It is the most magical time of the year which is why year after year Christmas proves to be the most popular time for proposals. We of course must be careful, but we still want to enjoy ourselves. “Whether it’s the mulled wine, the sentimental movies or the food, the chance to dress up, Christmas is gearing up to be full of love.”

The study reveals that we will also be making plans for the coming year with six in ten (60%) looking at holidays, 21% will take up a new hobby and 17% hoping to find a new job. One in seven (14%) say they will move house.

Timed to coincide with an appetite to dress up and make the most of the festive season Moss Bros has teamed up with Fred Sirieix to bring you an edit that bridges the gap between formal and casual and not letting the cold winter weather get in the way of a good time.

From a heat-locking flannel puffer and insulating knitwear to suits in water-repelling fabric and chunky rubber-soled shoes, this is the kit that’ll help you outsmart winter. A statement evening jacket proves the perfect option to dress up and enjoy yourself on darker nights, or for that eagerly anticipated Christmas dinner with friends and family.

“I’m really pleased to have joined forces with Moss Bros. – they’ve been helping people look and feel their best for 170 years. Together, we’re on a mission to make great style something everyone can enjoy. I especially love the collection because it bridges that gap between formal and casual,” said Fred Sirieix

The Fred x Moss Bros collection is available in-store or via Moss Bros with prices from £14.95 for a white t-shirt to up to a £349 for a Moss London Guabello Suit.
