Business Consultants Blow out the Candles with Awards Shortlist Boost

Issoria is celebrating its first year in business by being shortlisted for a prestigious award.

The start-up, a global network of management consultants, has made the final cut for the Best New Business in the SME National Business Awards 2017, which will be held at Wembley Stadium in December.

Founded by Ibi Thomson, Issoria provides a managed service to large corporate businesses who are undertaking major transformations such as mergers, acquisitions, technology implementations or structural changes.

Having turned down venture-capitalist investment offers – even from James Caan of Dragons’ Den fame – opting instead to bootstrap as an employee-owned company, Issoria has the audacious goal of serving half of the world’s largest companies by 2030.

One year in, the business has already secured multi-year service agreements with a number of FTSE100 and Fortune 500 companies.  One client boasts a $100 billion in annual revenue.

Ibi said: “We are delighted to be a finalist for the award, so early on in our journey. It’s testament to our collaborative business model and wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing support of our partners, members and industry friends.

And it seems success runs in Ibi’s family, as he takes his inspiration from Sir Frederick Wood – or ‘Uncle Freddie’, who grew his business from a single site in Yorkshire to what is now a £4 billion revenue FTSE 100 PLC.

“At just 23, he flew to America – wife and young child in tow – with just $75 in his pocket. From there he expanded the business and set it on the path to unbelievable success.”

Sir Wood went on to launch the UK’s National Express Coach Company.

“With a young family myself, it was always a risk leaving a secure and well-paid job to launch a start-up,” Ibi added. ” It’s early days, and there is work to do, but I am really pleased I did. Being shortlisted as a finalist for our first award, is the icing on the cake for year one.”
