Award-Winning Cardiff Rum Distillery Set to Release Two Exciting New Blends
The Cardiff-based rum distillery, Devil’s Bridge Spiced Rum is bringing two exciting new products to market this year and expanding its operation with a crowdfunding initiative. After gaining a passionate following of rum lovers and securing a number of reputable awards in just a few years, the innovative rum makers are looking to make a more substantial mark on the industry with new spirits that are both high-end and affordable.
Founded in 2020, Devil’s Bridge sets itself apart from many of its competitors by making high-quality aged rum without the use of added sugars. While many rum producers introduce sugar after the distillation process, Devil’s Bridge seeks to maintain a pure, refined flavour. Their rum is matured in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon barrels and shipped to their distillery in Wales where they flavour it with Bara Brith and introduce spices and botanicals, including Glengettie Black Tea and Shigar Carmarthenshire Butter. The end result is a distinctively Welsh rum.
In just a short time, their spiced rum has already garnered many awards in food and drink competitions. Devil’s Bridge took home two gold medals at the 2021 World Rum Awards in the flavoured and botanicals categories. They also won a gold medal in the London Spirits Competition and were named the Food and Drink Startup of the year in 2022 by the Welsh StartUp Awards.
In Q3 of this year, Devil’s Bridge will be releasing two new products, a silver and gold variation of their spiced rum. Both will be reasonably priced at the lower end of £30. Their silver rum will be a clear spirit, flavoured with botanicals that make it perfect for summer enjoyment. Their premium golden rum is still aged for up to six years in the Caribbean with no spices intended.
Of the upcoming releases, Devil’s Bridge states, “We are delighted with the reaction and uptake of our delicious Welsh rum so far and cannot wait to show the world our golden and silver variants. Both are made with the same love and dedication as Devil’s Bridge Spiced Rum.”
With its eyes set on growth, the Welsh distillery is launching a crowdfunding campaign. They’re looking to raise additional capital to: support the addition of new team members, further grow their product line and expand their distribution reach worldwide.
