Five Lesser Known Signs Of Poor Health
Do you feel on a daily basis that you are healthy, or at least striving for a healthy lifestyle? If you do and you are that’s a wonderful thing, as feeling healthy and living healthily can positively impact your life in a number of different ways, and you likely don’t stress much about your health situation.
It’s important to pay attention to your health on a number of different levels. Physical, mental, and even social health can play a part in your longevity and overall life happiness. Sometimes our bodies give us subtle signs that there is something not quite right going on – and it’s important to pay attention to those signs when they happen.
Your Skin Isn’t as Bright or Clear as Usual
While acne or other skin woes aren’t automatically a sign that there is a bigger issue going on, they can be. Perhaps your acne is accompanied by additional symptoms that could be tied together. Do you find yourself treating acne more often, or in different areas of your face or body, without a surface cause? Maybe you’re looking into treating dull skin when you’ve never faced that issue before. If so, it can be worth talking to your doctor to rule out any underlying causes.
You Snore, Sleep Poorly, or Feel Tired All of the Time
Many lifestyle occurrences can change the quality of your sleep, and a night of being unable to sleep or waking up tired here and there is not uncommon for anyone. However, if you notice a pattern of difficult sleep or are feeling tired all of the time enough that it’s noticeable, it’s time to pay attention to that. Snoring is a big marker of possibly having an underlying health issue such as sleep apnea. If you were unaware that you snored, or have only recently been told that you are snoring, it could be a sign of something else.
Rapidly Losing or Gaining Weight
If you don’t regularly keep track of your weight and body composition, it may not be noticeable to you that your weight is fluctuating on an almost daily basis. However, there are a number of medical issues that can cause weight to spike sharply in either direction. Rapid weight loss or gain is telling you something, whether it’s an important medical issue or not. Even if you are attempting to slim down you should not be losing more than 2lbs a week, any more can be unhealthy for your body, and the same goes with weight gain.
Big Change in Appetite
The same goes for your appetite. If you suddenly find yourself more or less hungry than usual, and this feeling lasts for more than a day at a time or a few days in a row, then it’s time to pay attention to that. Appetite will fluctuate normally based on what is going on in your body, your environment, your level of activity, and many other things.
Just like toddlers, sometimes we aren’t in the mood for anything, and sometimes we want to eat everything we see. If you are binge eating or eating to the point where you feel you will explode, this can be a big sign of some major physical or mental issues that need to be addressed. The same goes with eating so little that you are losing weight, or others have noticed how little you eat.
Changes in your bowel movements
Nobody really wants to look at their own poop, but everyone does it, and that’s actually a good thing. Paying attention to the color, size, and other properties of your stools can tell you quite a bit about where the health of your body is at. As with these other symptoms, an occasional bout of diarrhea or constipation is going to happen to everyone.
However, if one of these issues is lasting for days, or if you are having unexplained color changes to your stools (especially if they are black or bloody) this can be a sign of something bigger. Also, if your business is loose all the time or coming out in small, pebble, or stone-like shapes, this can foretell something else.
