New energetic sports bar pops up at 12th and Chestnut
Wicked Wolf looks to be Philly’s newest sports-centric destination for energetic dining and unique nightlife flair. This pub by day, sports party bar at night will offer over 28 HD-TVs, a 12 foot by 4 foot LED digital screen, and a sound system equipped to play up to 4 games, at the same time, with complete surround sound. Based off of a sister location, Wicked Wolf Hoboken, this new venue is looking to offer an incredible option for your next after work happy hour, birthday party, and to offer the famous Wolf Knows Sunday Funday. Irresistible bites perfectly paired with thirst quenching beer and cocktail selections will all be on the menu.
Wicked Wolf Philadelphia will be led by industry veteran, Jamie Powell, most well known for his 10-year reign managing locally famous Mad River Manayunk. He looks to take his years of experience to the next level with this new location. “When I saw the venue, it was a no-brainer,” comments Powell. “It is rare to find an opportunity to open a venue that is destined to be a Philadelphia staple.”
Wicked Wolf Philadelphia will feature over 6,500 square feet of space. This stunner includes a spacious first floor containing three full service bars and a second floor mezzanine which offers either the birds eye view of the dance floor or a secluded party feel of your own. In total, the venue will contain a mixture of over 250 high-top, dining table, and booth style seating.
The original Wicked Wolf has a strong emphasis on high energy and sports. It is that sports energy that fuels the larger events and days at the existing business located in Hoboken, New Jersey. When considering a new market to grow to expand the brand, majority partner John Sullivan knew the place. No stranger to the Philadelphia market, John Sullivan, owner of the former McFadden’s in the Citizen Bank BallPark, is excited for the return. “I’ve been fortunate enough to travel and work all across this country. There is no denying, Philadelphia has the best people. Hands down.”
While based on its flagship, Wicked Wolf Tavern located in Hoboken, New Jersey, there will be differences in aesthetics, menu offerings, and overall vibe. “I was asked in an interview early on from a potential new team member, what is going to make this place different from every place else?” comments John Conway, Wicked Wolf’s Assistant General Manager. “The answer just kind of came out – we will be unapologetically Philly.”
Wicked Wolf looks to offer a Cheers feeling by day, with an unparalleled nightclub-meets-sports-bar at night (and Sundays). The operational team worked hard to curate an impressive, hyper local focused, music entertainment DJ entertainment schedule.
Don’t let the impressive high-energy entertainment line-up distract you from the uniquely elevated pub-fare menu, led by culinary director Chef Sam Rivera. Dishes will range from classic wings with house made sauce, a build-your-own-burger menu, and a sprinkle of Philly themed dishes. Hot Jawn, anyone? Standout dishes include the short rib biscuit sliders (short ribs, buttermilk biscuit, horseradish creme fraise, brie, onion crisp), drunken chicken quesadilla (beer glazed chicken, caramelized onion, chipotle cream, cheddar), and Nonna’s Mac and Cheese. Wicked Wolf will offer a full menu for lunches and dinners, with brunch to follow come early Spring 2023.
