Kireina Suiso Develops an Advanced Alkaline Water Electrolysis System
FUKUSHIMA, JAPAN 13th December 2022 – Kireina-Suiso, a leading provider of cost-effective and reliable green hydrogen and zero-emission fuel cell solutions, focused on leading the energy transition by optimizing its portfolio, speeding renewables growth, and pioneering carbon capture and hydrogen value chain development, is pleased to communicate a new initiative to develop an alkaline water electrolysis system and its associated stack to produce green hydrogen at a low cost along with exploring new business and technological potential.
Producing clean hydrogen nowadays is challenging and time-consuming. Kireina Suiso is working to increase the price competitiveness of clean hydrogen by taking regional climate and environmental factors into account. The company agreed to investigate the potential of an alkaline water electrolysis system among multiple water electrolysis technologies, along with other industry participants who are expanding their business by studying the strengths and weaknesses of various water electrolysis technologies.
Among the various methods of water electrolysis, the alkaline water electrolysis system is considered to be one of the most technologically advanced, having undergone extensive testing and development. It also has the advantage of being able to generate significant amounts of hydrogen using relatively low-cost catalysts, lowering facility expenses.
The goal is to improve stack-related technologies that are at the heart of the alkaline water electrolysis system in order to lower the cost of construction and maintenance/operation. The project’s main benefit stands in the fact that it will be possible to construct a new stack that can function at high current density and produce green hydrogen economically by improving the performance of stack-related technologies in the alkaline water electrolysis process.

“Kireina Suiso’s cutting-edge water electrolysis stack design technology is an outstanding approach for enabling cost-effective green hydrogen production.  We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in this project. This is expected to hasten efforts to address the tremendous new opportunities in sustainable transportation around the world”, said Takahashi Ren, Non-Executive Director at Kireina Suiso.

Kireina-Suiso.com is developing an end-to-end green hydrogen ecosystem, from production to storage and distribution to energy generation, to assist its customers in achieving their objectives and reducing carbon emissions. The company provides energy supply, recovery, and storage solutions that are efficient, affordable, and environmentally sustainable.
