She was flying from Wellington, New Zealand’s capital to Auckland, the largest city of New Zealand, when the plane that was operating her flight was struck by lightning. It had to turn around. 

Another Air New Zealand plane was also struck by birds, resulting in that aircraft being taken out of service. 

Carter was unable to attend her first party of this festive season due to the cancellation of four flights between the cities.

She spoke to local news site Stuff“I received an alert telling me that I was being cancelled. Staff then informed me that the rebooked plane had been cancelled again because it had been struck with birds.”

Carter spent a long time waiting at Wellington airport. She tweeted: “2 flights cancelled, no seats… feeling a little anxious!”

She returned home on Wednesday evening, but was unable to attend the planned Christmas celebration.

Insider reached Carter for comment but Carter did not immediately respond.
