According to PeopleSwift was renting 23 Cornelia Street at the time. This was because David Aldea, an ex-executive at Soho House (a hotel chain and private members’ club), owned 23 Cornelia Street at the time.

Aldea said that Taylor Swift is not my type and that she was just not a pop-culture guy. She even told someone that Taylor Swift wanted to rent her home.

“Now, mind it, I knew her songs because they were on my running playlist. I didn’t match the song’s name. He said, “I know, it’s ridiculous.”

Aldea also stated that Swift was “an absolute joy to deal with” during rental and that she was “so humble” to write a song in his honor about his former home.

He said that he had put his heart and soul into designing, building, and decorating the house. For Taylor to come along to see what I saw, and to love what I loved, and create what I created, it was a complete compliment and he will always be grateful to her.” Vulture. “And when the song came out, it was the first time I thought to myself, “Wow! That is the most amazing thank-you and nod you could ever get.”
