What You Get in an Electric Car Costing $2M versus a $200,000 Car
There is a huge difference between a six-figure and seven-figure electric vehicle.

There are also some surprising similarities. After testing the 2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo ($209,000), as well as the Pininfarina Battista(2.2 million and above), I discovered that there are some surprising similarities.

The Taycan is equipped with two motors and all-wheel drive. It can produce up to 750 horsepower in very short bursts. It can accelerate to 60 mph in an astonishing, organ-compressing time of 2.7 seconds.

I didn’t think anything could possibly feel faster — until I drove the Battista.

The new Italian supercar promises 1,900 horsepower, 1,726 pound-feet and an unbelievable 1,900 rpm.
Tim Levin/Insider
Its top speed is 219 miles per hour. The Taycan’s top speed is 155 mph.
Tim Levin/Insider
Both cars are extremely easy to drive thanks to their precise steering, low center of gravity, and excellent handling.
Tim Levin/Insider
The Battista has twice the motors of Taycan, one driving each wheel independently. This supercar can adjust the torque sent to each corner to help it turn.

Then there is the all-important driving distance. The EPA rates the Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo at 222 miles.
Tim Levin/Insider
Pininfarina gave the car 300 mile driving range so Battistas won’t see much of the road.

Let’s talk practicality.
Tim Levin/Insider
The Battista is almost entirely made of carbon fiber. This is a lightweight, rigid material that is also very resistant to cracks and bumps. You can hear pebbles hitting the supercar’s flooring as you drive.

The Taycan is able to hold more stuff for all types of trips. It’s no surprise that the Cross Turismo station-wagon model has a larger cargo area.
Tim Levin/Insider
It also has a small trunk at the front.

However, the Battista has a tiny storage area and custom luggage.

These cars are very similar in terms of their capabilities on a daily level, despite the $2 Million price difference.

Yet, the Pininfarina remains a unique and exceptional product.
Tim Levin/Insider
It has a beautiful, exotic design that is completed by doors that swing up to the sides instead of out.

A speaker system is able to not only project futuristic driving sounds inside the car but also broadcast them outside.
TangentVector
It vibrates artificially to the touch despite not having a rumbling gas engine deep within.
