Celebrities are leaving Twitter following Elon Musk’s takeover.
Shonda Rhimes was a screenwriter, producer and showrunner who helped to launch the trend at the beginning of October. tweeting: “Not hanging around for whatever Elon has planned. Bye.”
Rhimes quickly became one of many who abandoned the platform over the past two weeks.
The exodus follows online chatter that began in April when some stars appeared. vowed to leaveAfter Musk’s deal was closed, the platform was closed due to concerns over Musk’s potential influence at the helm.

On Oct. 29, the “Grey’s Anatomy”, and “Bridgerton” creator announced that she was leaving the platform. Rhimes said that she didn’t intend to remain “for whatever Elon has in mind.”

Sara Bareilles
Oct. 29: Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Bareilles said she had quit the platform. Bareilles tweeted: “Welp. It’s been great Twitter. I’m out. I hope to see you on other platforms, friends. This one is not for me.

Ken Olin
Olin, executive producer of the Emmy-winning series “This Is Us,” also stated that he was leaving social media app. He posted the following: tweet saying: “I’m out of here. No judgment

Toni Braxton
R&B star Toni Braxton said she was “shocked and appalled” at some of the content she had seen since Musk’s takeover.
She stated that she was choosing not to use Twitter because it was “no longer safe space for me, my sons and other POC.”

Téa Leoni
This actress is most well-known for her role in “The Last Ship”.‘Madam Secretary” appears to have also deleted her Twitter account. She tweetedThe platform had “revealed excessive hate, too much towards the wrong direction,”
She said, “Love, kindness, possibilities for all of them.”
Brian Koppelman
Koppelman, the showrunner for “Billions”, also closed his account. He instructed his Twitter followers to follow him instead on Instagram and TikTok.
He said: “Y’all’s, for actual, come over to me over on Instagram and the Tok. Gonna really try and take a break here for a minute, or a month, come deal close time.
Alex Winter
The “Bill & Ted” star also appears to have left the platform. His Twitter profileHis bio is empty and he seems to have erased his tweet history. His bio simply reads: “Not Here. IG: @alxwinter.”
Capt. Chelsey “Sully” Sullenberger
Nov. 9: The hero pilot-turned-author stated that he’d be “taking another step back” from Twitter. He also listed the other platforms where his followers could find him. One user pointed out that it was difficult to determine if he was real or fake.
“It took 5 clicks for me to see that you were the real Captain Sully, so that seems like an acceptable decision,” the tweet said.

Whoopi Goldberg
The View’s Nov. 7 episode featured the actor saying on Twitter, “It’s so messy.” Goldberg announced that she would be leaving Twitter to co-host the talk show.

Gigi Hadid
The fashion model took to Instagram and condemned Twitter, especially under Musk, and announced that she would be deactivating her account.
“I deactivated today my Twitter account. It’s been a long time since it was created, but with its new leadership, it’s become more and more of an infested place of hate and bigotry.
Amber Heard
Although “Aquaman” actor did not give any reason or make an announcement about her departure from Twitter on Nov. 1, users noticed that her account was deactivated.
It is not clear why Heard decided that Twitter was the best place for her to be. About a year ago, she was with “Chief Twit Musk” before their relationship ended in 2018.

Erik Larsen
According to NBC News, comic book creator – best known for “The Amazing Spider-Man” – Larson tweeted in April that he didn’t plan to stick around if Musk bought Twitter.
His handle appeared to have been removed as of Oct. 31, according to Larsen, who later confirmed his departure in an email to NBC News.
Laura Benanti
Tony Award-winning actor Benanti had some wise words for Musk in her final tweet, before she deleted her account.
Benanti sends a tweet – now inaccessible – to Twitter’s new owner, saying, “fuckyou forever” and telling her followers that they can find her on Instagram.
Mick Foley
In a post to his official Facebook account, the former pro-wrestler announced a break from Twitter “since the new ownership — and the misinformation and hate it seems to be encouraging — has my stomach in a knot.”
Foley continued the post by telling his fans he was still active on Instagram and Facebook, and encouraging them to be kind.
Jenny Slate
The comedian and actress who portrayed “Marcel The Shell With Shoes On” in films like “Obvious Children” announced that she had deactivated Twitter. Instagram postShared on Nov. 12.
