New Director Joins Innovative Training Company
A new Director of Project Management joins one of the UK’s leading project management training providers.
A new Director of Project Management has joined Parallel Project Training, one of the country’s leading project management training providers based in Reading. Rob Marriott, who joined Parallel in Q4 2021, brings a unique perspective on the corporate training industry and a wealth of experience following 14 years designing and delivering Learning & Development programmes at major consultancy firms. He will begin to deliver training programmes for Parallel from January 2022 and help to expand the company in the coming years.
Rob’s career started out at PA Consulting Group, the innovation and transformation consultancy where designers, digital experts, scientists, engineers and technologists come together to offer end-to-end innovation from concept, through prototyping to manufacturing and distribution. He worked within the Learning & Development department to design and deliver training programmes focused on soft skills development.
This was followed by 6 years at Arcadis, the world’s leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets. At Arcadis Rob developed the technical curriculum for the Design & Engineering Academy for the UK arm of the business, and designed and led the Graduate Training Programme. He managed training programmes for almost 2,000 people working at board level and with candidates and stakeholders. He assisted engineers, surveyors and environmentalists on their development path to professional qualifications via either the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Association for Project Management (APM), the Chartered Body for the Project Profession.
Rob worked with John Bolton, the Joint Founder and Programmes Director at Parallel Project Training, while still at Arcadis on the development of their Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) programme, which John delivered. “Working with John for nearly 2 years on the ChPP programme gave me the opportunity to provide executive coaching and mentoring to over 50 people to guide them on the right development path towards chartered status. One of my aims was to bring the whole company together with a common chartered status appropriate to individuals’ experience and area of involvement in Arcadis, whether that was through ICE, RICS or APM chartered status.”
Parallel has a formidable reputation as a provider of the very best professional training for individuals and corporate clients in a wide range of industries. Their flexible approach to learning and their range of study options and learning materials suit the requirements of project managers at any stage of their careers. They tailor courses to suit existing corporate project management frameworks and continue to expand their services including Chartered Project Professional coaching for major infrastructure organisations. As the newest member of the Parallel team Rob Marriot will be instrumental in driving forward expansion plans in addition to delivering training programmes for professional project managers.
