The ESG movement has gained extensive momentum since 2004 from an initiative launched by the United Nations. The United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan issued a report concluding that embedding environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors “leads to more sustainable markets” and “better outcomes for societies”.
