The Green Room Suspended in Pink Rope

The Green Room Suspended in Pink Rope

Malvern Garden Buildings and Indoor Garden Design unveil show stopping House Plant Studio design for RHS Chelsea Flower Show from 21st – 26th September 2021.

“The Green Room” will be an immersive, houseplant filled VIP retreat in which the ‘Planterati’ can escape the hustle and bustle of the show outside, ‘suspended’ in a giant hot pink macramé hanger.

The award-winning garden designer to the stars behind the concept is Ian Drummond, Creative Director of Indoor Garden Design. Ian says:

“We’ve let our imaginations go wild. With everything we’ve all been through an exhibit where everything feels like it hangs in the balance seems apt.

Inside visitors will be encouraged to swing in a suspended seat surrounded by the trailing root systems of orchids, air plants and Macramé plant hangers with a carpet of moss underfoot.

Planted tree trunks will bring the feeling of nature indoors whilst providing a suitable space for tree-dwelling species such as Rhipsalis, Medinilla and Tillandsia. Clusters of planters, baskets and pots near the windows will showcase cacti and succulent species which can spend the summer months on the other side of the glass on the terrace.

This House Plant Studio is all about giving back to plants. The Green Room will be a glamorous ‘hang-out’ for ‘Very Important Plants’.

After over a year’s break from exhibiting at in-person events due to the pandemic, Malvern Garden Building’s Managing Director, Andrew Peck admits:

“We’re counting down the days to the return of RHS Chelsea Flower Show. We cannot wait to put on a display to spark joy and celebrate life in all its glorious British eccentricity.

We’ve provided the studios for the plateau in Ranelagh Gardens for over 10 years. This will be the first time they have played host to indoor plantscapes. We’re really excited to be helping to bring this new class of exhibit to this world-famous show.”

“The Green Room” will be one of six House Plant Studios exhibited at RHS Chelsea 2021, in which designers will show how house plants can be used cleverly in any space indoors.
