Mercedes-Benz South West To Expand Their LCV Centre In Plymouth

Mercedes-Benz South West To Expand Their LCV Centre In Plymouth

Due to demand over the past 18 months, Mercedes-Benz South West is expanding its Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) Centre located in Estover, Plymouth. The family-run franchise which employs over 600 people across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset is acquiring the distribution centre currently used by DPD to fulfil the expansion plans.

Following the three UK lockdowns over the past year, the need for vans has grown due to the popularity of online retail and the requirement for more courier and delivery services across the region. Due to this demand Mercedes-Benz South West has seen visit numbers to the after sales divisions increase by 18% compared to last year and 22% in 2019. Mercedes-Benz South West are preparing to accommodate the growing demand from those looking to keep their van safe and maintained following the boost in van sales. The expansion will also include further facilities for staff including a new communal area.

The growth of Mercedes-Benz South West’s LCV business in Plymouth also brings many new job opportunities to the area with recruitment underway for the site and two new Service Team Manager positions already filled. Vacancies actively being hired for include LCV Technician roles and an office based position to be advertised in the near future. Mercedes-Benz South West has always believed it is important to support those in the early stages of their careers and is also recruiting for an LCV apprentice to join the team and help shape the future of the business.

Lee Nash, After Sales Director at Mercedes-Benz South West comments:

“It’s an exciting time for our LCV Centre in Plymouth. Due to the growth of our key accounts we have simply outgrown our current site. We are really proud of the support we have been able to offer our customers since the pandemic began. It’s great that as a result we have adapted and thrived and are now able to offer more support and opportunities for the local area and wider region.”

ABOUT MERCEDES-BENZ SOUTH WEST

Mercedes-Benz South West has the backing of City West Country (UK Holdings) Ltd, a privately-owned organisation with more than three decades of motor industry experience.

Since being selected as one of Mercedes-Benz’s key business partners, Mercedes-Benz South West has enjoyed fantastic success and recorded some significant business achievements. This included undertaking a multi-million-pound investment programme to create four state-of-the-art automotive retailing outlets aimed at enhancing sales and after sales facilities for customers across the region. Mercedes-Benz of Exeter was the first of the new generation of Mercedes-Benz outlets to be unveiled in the UK when it commenced trading in January 2002 and it was followed by the opening of equally impressive premises in Taunton (2004), Plymouth (2005) and Truro (2007).

The tremendous progress and results achieved by Mercedes-Benz South West have been recognised by the manufacturer on more than one occasion. The group was named Mercedes-Benz Retailer of the Year for 2008 and, in 2019, secured the title of smart retailer of the year for an unprecedented fourth time.
