Evolution of electric motoring to be showcased in new rally proudly sponsored by EDF
From the Sinclair C5 to the Jaguar i-Pace – The Big Lemon London to Brighton electric vehicle rally, proudly sponsored by EDF, is set to be a showcase of innovation across electric motoring and clean energy.
Among the 27 entries received so far, in addition to the C5 and i-Pace, the rally will feature Renault’s electric microcar, the Renault Twizy, solar powered cars, alongside self-build vehicles, including one built from a former chicken coup.
The Big Lemon London to Brighton electric vehicle rally will be sponsored by EDF, Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity and a leading EV provider. The rally takes place on Sunday 18th July and will start on the banks of the River Thames, covering over 58 miles, passing through beautiful Sussex and Surrey countryside before finishing on Brighton Beach.
Philip Valarino, Head of EV projects at EDF said: “EDF are passionate about helping the UK cut its carbon emissions to help Britain achieve Net Zero through wind, nuclear and solar. We’re proud to be sponsoring The Big Lemon London to Brighton EV rally which sets out to demonstrate and celebrate the rapid development of electric vehicles and renewable energy. We are committed to supporting customers’ journey to drive electric through leasing deals, home charging points and our low cost, zero carbon electricity tariffs, and with the event due to feature an area for people to test drive an EV, we hope it will encourage more people to make the switch.”
Tom Druitt L2BEVR Co-Founder said: “We are so happy to be working with EDF – they understand our aspirations perfectly and have shown a real enthusiasm for what we stand for. The partnership will enable us to put on a world-class event and we are very grateful to them for their support.”
