New app promises ‘cybersecurity for everyone’

New app promises ‘cybersecurity for everyone’

Are you at risk of being hacked?

That’s the question a new consumer-focused cybersecurity app is set to answer.

Cypaw, the brainchild of entrepreneurs Ryan Bosley and Adam Pritchard, launches today with the aim of giving people a one-stop means of instantly improving their online security.

The app scours a user’s online presence to calculate a personalised security score that flags up any data weaknesses and allows users to understand their current risk level in seconds.

Bosley said: “The pandemic has forced us to live remotely and rely on technology more to keep in touch with friends, family and do our work, but this comes with a greater risk of becoming the victim of a hack.

“Most people have no idea whether their most important personal piece of information – their password – has been stolen, but that’s the key for hackers to potentially expose your information, steal your identity and access your finances.”

Cypaw, free to download on Android and iOS from today, suggests simple one-touch fixes that users can easily implement to close up any loopholes in their online security.

As well as reducing spam emails, the start-up – based in Welwyn Garden City – also allows users to easily send ‘right to erasure’ requests to unwanted websites.

Cypaw is the product of two years’ work by Bosley and Pritchard after they identified a gap for a consumer-facing product in the marketplace.

Co-founder Adam Pritchard said: “In a highly digital world, it is critical that everyone is able to assess and protect their online security. This is why we made Cypaw – an easy and accessible app that can help protect everyone online.”
