Tax firm’s growth leads to significant recruitment

Demand from existing and new clients of a leading tax consultancy has prompted a significant recruitment drive at the firm. Despite tough economic conditions, ETC Tax, based in Cheshire, (also with offices in London and Birmingham) are going from strength to strength.

Last October, ETC Tax moved to bigger premises in Altrincham, Cheshire, as a result of continuing demand from professional advisers, small business owners and entrepreneurs for high quality tax advice; and in October of this year, they have taken on four new staff, welcoming Chris Watts, Zeeshan Khilji, Lauren McKenna and Peter Loughlin to the team.

Chris joined ETC from PKF Francis Clark where he operated as a mixed tax adviser, with a specialist in tax disputes and investigations. Chris is based in the South West and will help ETC grow their business in London and the South.

Chris commented “I am delighted to be taking up the role of Associate Director at ETC Tax and am looking forward to providing clients with high quality tax advice and assistance with tax investigations”.

Zeeshan joined from Baldwins, where he was a corporate tax specialist. Like Chris, Zeeshan is a mixed tax adviser, but during the course of his tax career has focused primarily on proving advice on M&A and corporate tax matters. Zeeshan heads up ETC Tax’s Birmingham office.

Zeeshan added “I would like to thank Angela and Andy, for giving me the opportunity to build upon the amazing success they have achieved in the North West, here in the Midlands”.

ETC Tax are also delighted to have recruited Lauren McKenna into her first role since leaving school.

Andy Wood, Director, commented “We are really pleased to have brought Lauren into the team. She is bright and enthusiastic, and we are pleased to have had the opportunity to be able to use the government’s apprentice support scheme in recruiting Lauren”.

To top it off, Peter Loughlin has recently joined the firm as a Business Development Manager. Having previously worked for another independent tax practice., Pete is eager to re-engage with existing contacts as well as develop new relationships.

These new recruits complement senior appointments made by ETC earlier in the year, which included Sophie Chamberlain, a Private Client specialist who joined from Deloitte, and Simon Denye, a corporate tax expert, and Keith Miller, a VAT specialist, who both joined from Dow Schofield Watts.

Angela Wood, Managing Director added “We are very fortunate to be working in an industry that has not necessarily been particularly affected by the Covid crisis as much as others, and these are exciting times for ETC Tax. We have invested heavily in our people over the last couple of years and I am really proud of how we have come together to support each other and to grow the business against the odds over the last few months. Our open, honest and collaborative approach is clear for all to see, and as a result we have been able to attract some top talent to the team, adding to our already strong core.

We have grown our revenues by 20% in the last 12 months and, despite the current challenges, September 2020 represented our most successful month in the firm’s history. We feel confident that with the team we now have in place we are in the best position to help us push through the current crisis and grow revenues still further”.
