The original RWB Porsche reborn as a watch

The original RWB Porsche reborn as a watch

[ad_1]

Copenhagen, May 19th, 2020.
We are proud to introduce our most extreme collection yet, The Limited Edition 901 RWB – designed and produced in collaboration with legendary Japanese car tuner Akira Nakai, founder of Porsche tuning company RAUH-Welt BEGRIFF (RWB).

The REC X RWB collaboration contains a piece of metal from the original RWB Stella Artois and RWB Rotana Porsche – the personal and famous race cars of Mr. Akira Nakai. Limited to 305 pieces of each model.

The myth – Turning beauties into beasts

Akira Nakai is considered an artist and underground phenomenon in the car and drifting community, having specialized in the installation of custom wide-body kits and extreme fenders on classic Porsche 911’s. Doing most of his work by hand, Nakai-san’s RWB conversions are unmistakable and controversial.

His violent, chaotic approach is the antithesis to Porsche’s discreet, careful upgrades of their iconic cars. His conversion projects are complete transformative experiences and the birth of something new and extreme – turning the sophisticated Dr. Jekyll into the beastly Mr. Hyde.

The beasts – marking the birth of RWB

The 901 RWB Stella and ROTANA timepieces contain a piece of metal from Akira Nakai-San’s personal RWB Porsche 911’s:
Stella Artois – a car 12 years in the making and the genesis of all RWB projects.
Rotana – a hardcore, track focused purple turbo Porsche 911 turbo.

Stella Artois was Nakai-san’s first full conversion: A black and gold classic black 1985 Porsche 930 turned into a roaring monster whereas the purple Rotana is based on a 993 and Nakai-san’s vision taken to the extreme.  Both vehicles would go on to define and shape the RWB brand and Porsche tuning subculture.

RECycle – CAPTIVATING THE SOUL AND DNA OF A LEGEND

Nakai-san might be transforming the classic Porsche 911 into something extreme for a living – but his love of these vehicles is the reason the fender parts removed from his own cars are still to be found in his garage in Kashiwa, Japan.

Raw material from Stella Artois and Rotana are punched into watch dials, lacquered and built directly into the design of the 901 RWB Stella and Rotana timepieces, ending its long and extreme journey of alteration.

The entire idea behind Rauh-Welt Begriff (RWB) and everything that Nakai-san has sacrificed for his automotive art is distilled into a limited run of only 305 watches of each model.

(REClaim) TWO YEARS IN THE MAKING

The REC X RWB project has been two years in the making – blame it on our Danish perfectionism. Captivating the soul and the design DNA of these two iconic vehicles has by no means been an easy task.

“Whether you like them or not Mr. Akira Nakai’s RWB creations don’t go unnoticed. You take a stand. We wanted to incorporate the same powerful presence into our Stella and Rotana timepieces”.
Designer of 901 RWB STELLA & ROTANA, Thomas Funder

We have incorporated the extreme wide body kit into our design – just to mention one of the many design elements we pay homage to.

No formula or predefined approach defines the process. Constantly adding and constantly cutting away, we are working relentlessly to distill the essence until only the best parts remain, encapsulated in pure passion – completing the creative circle.

THE REC CONCEPT
How do you put the soul of a car into a watch. Where do you find it? In the material, the shape, or is it in the roads it’s traveled? It is our love for the extraordinary machine that drives our philosophy. A three-step process we’ve named: RECover, RECycle, REClaim. Or REC for short.
