ONLINE EVENT – In this virtual ‘fireside chat’ co-hosted by the Atlantic Council and SACC-USA,
Barry Pavel addresses the Scowcroft Center’s efforts to both comprehend the geopolitics of COVID-19 and shape the US and allied response.
The coronavirus pandemic represents a geopolitical inflection point that will continue to shape
international and domestic phenomena for decades. The United States, alongside allies and partners
like Sweden, has only just begun to comprehend its implications for the health, economic vitality,
and security of the current world order.
Accordingly, the Atlantic Council and its Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security have been at
the forefront of global efforts to map the potential geopolitical trajectories of this pandemic.
In previous weeks, the Scowcroft Center launched a groundbreaking Atlantic Council Strategy Paper
on three scenarios for a post-COVID-19 world order, while hosting numerous European officials and
other prominent voices including Swedish Ambassador Karin Olofsdotter and bestselling author Max
Brooks for virtual discussions on lessons learned and policy responses. Minimizing the risks and
maximizing the historic moment will require an innovative and holistic approach to international
security and foreign affairs.
Please join the Atlantic Council and SACC-USA for a virtual ‘fireside chat’ with Barry Pavel, Senior
Vice President of the Atlantic Council and Director of the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for
Strategy and Security, on “The Geopolitical Implications of COVID-19.” The event will take place on
Friday, May 15, 2020 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. EDT, and will be held online through Zoom video-
conference technology. To receive the Zoom link, please register by clicking the REGISTER button above.
