London-based tech start-up Fragrance Tech sets its sights on revolutionising fragrance industry

– Completion of seed funding allows firm to ready itself for product launch
– Flagship product to launch before the end of the year
– Founded by former head of digital at Arcadia, Sophie Weston

Fragrance technology start-up Fragrance Tech has announced plans to launch its flagship product this year, with the intent of revolutionising the fragrance market. Having recently closed its seed funding round, the undisclosed sum will allow the business to bring the first of its technologies to market, earlier than previously anticipated.

Founded in early 2019 by Founder & CEO Sophie Weston, London-based Fragrance Tech is focused on disrupting the fragrance industry through applied data science, gamified consumer education, and developing interactive buying experiences. More details of the product launch will be announced in due course.

“Our flagship product is purpose built for fragrance e-commerce retailers. We’re determined to revolutionise the category, with a specific focus on modernising how consumers learn about, and most importantly buy fragrance online – it’s a hot topic for the fragrance industry.” said the Chartered Accountant, turned founding entrepreneur.

The startup is also in discussions with a well-known fragrance e-commerce retailer operating in the EU, which has already expressed early interest in trialing Fragrance Tech’s flagship solution.

“Fragrance Tech has an exciting journey ahead. We have a bold mission, not just in bringing the first of our disruptive solutions to market, but also to a beacon of how ‘Fragrance Technology’, as a category, should be adding value to the industry.”

Sophie continued: “The industry is crying out for innovation to grow sales and solve systemic challenges; such as improving consumer habits in relation to fragrance switching and fragrance gifting, particularly online. Whilst there are many analogue solutions in the wider fashion and beauty category… those technology led, and data-driven approaches have not yet filtered their way into the fragrance industry – that’s precisely the gap our company is committed to closing.”

Sophie was previously head of digital at Arcadia, and prior to that held various senior finance roles. In 2018 she was recognised by one of the UK’s Chartered Accountant governing bodies with the prestigious accolade of being named ‘Top 100 Young Chartered Accountants
