These are the top 30 gifts Dads actually want this Father’s Day
Dads really want a family meal, a bottle of bourbon and a new watch for Father’s Day – but they’re expecting nothing more than a pair of socks, according to a study.
Researchers who polled 2,000 dads found three quarters expect to receive a gift this Sunday – and think their kids should spend an average of £20 on it.
Photography accessories, a pizza oven and power tools are also on dads’ wish lists this year – along with a supercar experience, bicycle gear and a trip to the pub.
Other desired items include football tickets, fancy coffee, vinyl records, headphones and beard oil.
It also emerged half of dads would be disappointed if they didn’t receive a present this Father’s Day.
Amid this, 44 per cent go one step further to ensure they get what they want – and tell their children exactly what to buy them.
And 97 per cent of those go on to receive that very item.
Despite this, it appears dads do appreciate the efforts to make Father’s Day special with nine in 10 saying their family put lots of thought into what to get them.
Commissioned by small batch craft bourbon, Woodford Reserve, the research also identified what the perfect Father’s Day would involve – and top of the list is being treated to their favourite meal.
However watching the World Cup is up there too, along with a day out with the kids and breakfast in bed – all just ahead of a lie in.
The research also found two thirds of dads are whiskey fans, with a whopping 95 per cent happy to receive a bottle of the drink as a gift this Father’s Day.
More than one quarter said bourbon is their favourite variety of whiskey.
Thirty-five per cent revealed they prefer whiskey with a long established heritage and one third are drawn to those that come in a distinctive bottle.
And 32 per cent typically plump for a whiskey which has won numerous awards.
A spokesman for Woodford Reserve said: “The nation’s fathers have low expectations this year, with many thinking something pretty unexciting is coming their way on Sunday.
“If you’re out to impress Dad this year Woodford Reserve’s award-winning bourbon offers the perfect gift.
“It is the only bourbon to be triple distilled in copper pot stills, giving it a balance of depth and flavour that make it great on ice, or in an Old Fashioned cocktail.”
