Valentine’s Day Pizza is here to help you show your love to your ‘Bae’

Valentine’s Day Pizza is here to help you show your love to your ‘Bae’

Pizza-loving couples can pop the question or declare their love to their other half this Valentine’s Day, with a doughy makeover of a classic romantic sweet.

In a throwback to the retro favourite, Just Eat has partnered with award-winning London pizzeria Joe & ‘Za to create a limited edition range of pizzas, featuring a heartfelt message for a loved one.

The pizzas feature one of five romantic messages including ‘Marry Me’ and ‘Be Mine’.

‘I Love You’ can also be ordered along with popular pet names ‘Bae’ and ‘Hun’.

The pizzas were inspired by Just Eat data which shows that the Italian staple is the number one dish Brits order for a romantic Valentine’s night in.

Last year, four pizzas were ordered every second between 6.30pm and 7.30pm on Valentine’s day.

Chef Ionut Zaharia at Joe & ‘Za’s in Hoxton has taken the classic margherita base topped with juicy green peppers to create the iconic messages.

Loved up pizza fans can then choose from three popular toppings including pepperoni, cherry tomatoes or black olives to form the shape of the heart.

The limited edition 12 inch pizzas are £11.99 each and will be available for delivery exclusively through Just Eat from 17.00 – 22.30 on Valentine’s Day.

Graham Corfield of Just Eat said: “What better way to say happy Valentine’s Day than with pizza?

“Flowers, chocolates and sickly sweet cuddly toys may be the standard romantic gift, but for anyone wanting to sidestep the cliches, why not give your loved one what they really want – pizza.

“As a nation we order so much pizza on Valentine’s night that if we were to stack the boxes, it would be over five times the height of the Eiffel Tower.

“Adding these playful messages is a fun – and tasty – way to add a slice of romance to a Valentine’s date night in.“

The move comes after research carried out by Just Eat, a leading global marketplace for online food delivery, found more than six in 10 Brits use pet names for their other half with ‘baby’ being the most common.

‘Darling’, ‘Sweetheart’, ‘Hun’ and ‘Bae’ are also among the top 10 most popular monikers for loved ones.

Some even admitted to calling their other half pet names such as ‘Rambo’ and ‘Snuggle Muffin’.

Joe & ‘Za, owned by 27-year old Iftekar Hossain, is renowned for its delicious, gourmet pizzas and was crowned Best Takeaway in North London at the 2017 British Takeaway Awards.
